The More Things Change is an artwork series created on cotton paper hand-stained with natural coffee ink and layered with gouache-painted masks. The series draws its symbolism from two intertwined ideas. The use of natural coffee ink embraces impermanence—its tones shift subtly over time, allowing each work to evolve alongside its owner. The mask serves as a metaphor for human nature and the shifting social facades we present to the world. Depending on how long one looks, a mask may suggest sorrow, humour, joy, or calm, yet it always retains an air of mystery—hinting at the unknowable depths beneath the surface.
